Daniel Fein was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. After attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology for his Bachelor’s of Science degree and Albert Einstein College of Medicine for his MD, he completed both a pediatric residency and Chief Residency program at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM)/Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Fein is also an active clinical research faculty member at CHAM, acting as site-director for multiple national studies he is participating in. His primary areas of research interest include pain control in Emergency Department settings as well as medical student/resident education.
At high school, he would often do crossword puzzles in class to stay awake, helping him develop both an expansive vocabulary and creative imagination. Many of these abilities were utilized when writing his first novel – Shattered Alliances – loosely inspired by some of his friends from an MIT fraternity.
Professional Career
Daniel Fein is a partner and co-founder of Verition Fund Management, an investment firm focused on real estate based in New York City, United States. Prior to this position, he worked as an analyst for Situs Real Estate Consultants where he underwrote commercial mortgage backed securities loans for Wall Street lenders.
He completed both his pediatrics residency at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM)/Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship there. As well as clinical research interests including analgesia and pain control in pediatric emergency departments as well as medical student, resident, and fellowship education.
He is also a frequent presenter at pediatric emergency and medical simulation training programs, having written and lectured extensively on topics related to pediatric emergency care.
Achievement and Honors
Fein is an accomplished writer, having contributed articles to such publications as the New York Times, New Republic, Commentary, Commonweal and The Nation. Additionally he has published multiple books. Fein has received several honors such as National Foundation for Jewish Culture Award and Chernin Prize from Jewish Council on Public Affairs.
He is recognized as the ECAC Division III Administrator of the Year and serves on the NCAA Division III Interpretations and Legislation Committee. Additionally, he has oversaw some notable accomplishments at Drew University such as starting men’s and women’s golf programs as well as installing brand new weight equipment into Simon Forum.
He is actively engaged in community affairs and served on the board of directors of The Jewish Historical Society of New York City.
Personal Life
Daniel Fein, born in the Bronx of New York City and the youngest of three siblings. After attending Bronx High School of Science he graduated with honors. Since 1979 Daniel has been an active member of both New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and adjunct percussion faculty at New Jersey City University as well as performing numerous performances with orchestras and dance ensembles alike.
He is married to Jacqueline Connor of Scituate, Massachusetts; she is the daughter of Ralph L. and Doris Connor and together they have one daughter named Jordana.
Dr. Ladner is currently employed at Montefiore Medical Center as Director of Inpatient Pulmonary Services and Critical Care as well as serving on its Executive Committee since 2019. Additionally, he holds memberships with both American Thoracic Society and American College of Chest Physicians.
