Dan Lawlor, Jr.

Dan provides advice and representation to health systems regarding new hospital projects, representing national healthcare corporations in acquisitions of hospitals and healthcare facilities, while acting as CON counsel for several new or converted hospitals or treatment centers throughout Illinois.

His interests include classical music, stamp and coin collecting, casinos, reading and writing poetry. He is a member of both Colonie Elks and Polish American Citizens Club.

Early Life and Education

Danny Lawlor was an empathetic father to Leeanne and Kim Lawlor and an affectionate grandfather to Daniel and Kassy. As an uncle he would frequently surprise them on Christmas and birthdays while also always being quick to inquire how their jobs and school lives were faring.

Dan was a proud veteran of the United States Army and graduated with honors from SUNY Albany’s Business Administration program with his Bachelor’s of Science degree, having done his time. Additionally, he was an active member of St Thomas More Church and Colonie Elks; spending many enjoyable winters at Greentree Villas in Boynton Beach Florida.

Dan was an excellent historian, recalling dates of birth, marriages and deaths of people living in Killoughey and its environs for more than eighty years. He loved his family dearly and was always ready with old sayings, country wisdom or verse!

Professional Career

Lawlor was one of the MLW Heavyweight Champions, competing on their Fusion television show as well as appearing on UFC’s eighth season of The Ultimate Fighter.

He has extensive experience before the Illinois CON Board, successfully representing health systems with respect to multiple new hospital projects and change-of-ownership approvals of healthcare facilities.

He is a member of the Colonie Elks and Polish American Citizens Club as well as serving as soloist in his church choir. In his free time he enjoys classical music (particularly opera), reading, playing cards, fishing and visiting casinos. Daniel, Kassy and Ethan are his proud children while Emma Ali and Kinley are his proud grandchildren. Daniel likes spending his winters at Greentree Villas Boynton Beach Florida along with family and friends.

Achievement and Honors

He took great pride in the achievements of his family, always being proud to celebrate their accomplishments and spending quality time with them – especially as an amazing father to Cathy, Tom and Matt as well as loving grandfather to Laura Jamie Amy Ella Mary Hannah & all her siblings.

He was an outstanding team leader on Drew University’s swimming squad, teaching his teammates the value of dedication and hard work over big rosters as a key to their own success.

He was recognized by the United States Army with a Silver Star award, given to service members who demonstrate exceptional bravery under fire.

Personal Life

He enjoyed classical music, particularly opera, singing, fishing, casinos and books. He was an active member of both the Monday Musical Club and Tuesday Music Study Group as well as Albany Postal Workers Association and American Legion Life Membership.

He enjoyed many relaxing winters at Greentree Villas in Boynton Beach, Florida, taking pleasure from basking in the sun and swimming in the ocean. Additionally, he was an avid stamp and coin collector.

Dan was an exceptional storyteller. He had an abundance of old sayings and country wisdom stored away for him to recall from his youth in Killoughey. Dan particularly enjoyed telling tales about Colonel Biddulph’s big wind of 1903 as well as playing hurling, attending wakes, smoking clay pipes, playing clay pipe music at wakes or simply having balls on their heads!
