Daniel Cardoza, 49, of Santa Paula, California, Passed Away Today

Daniel Cardoza has made his mark in literature through poems and fiction published in numerous literary publications including 45th Parallel, Allegory (honorable mention), BlazeVOX, Black Petals, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Across the Margins, Entropy, Fri(c)tion Gravel Literary Heist Running Wild Press Spelk Tiny Molecules Visitant among others. Daniel currently resides near Mount Shasta – one of California’s ethereal jewels – an idealistic vision in miniature! He lives nearby Mt Shasta.

Early Life and Education

Daniel Cardoza was raised in Buzzards Bay. He is survived by his mother Diane; sister Dakota; fiancee Orianna Carestia of Falmouth and their son Dominic Joseph Cardoza; as well as his uncles and cousins. Donations may be made in Daniel’s name to Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home.

Ernie Cardoza has big goals. In 2009, he was honored as the Santa Paula Police Department Explorer of the Year after participating in their Explorer program and participating as part of their Link Crew which assists freshmen students adjusting to high school.

His long-term aim is to become a full-time police officer. In order to achieve this goal, he plans on attending college and earning a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

Professional Career

Cardoza became well-known within the Quarter Horse industry for his talents as both jockey and trainer. Riding competitively prior to AQHA starting keeping race records, Cardoza won over 3,000 races throughout his career – including some $1 million races! Notably, Cardoza worked alongside notable trainers D. Wayne Lukas, Clarence Scharbauer and Spencer Childers among many others.

Cardoza continues her competitive spirit through professional roping and most recently taking part in Command X, an AIGA live design competition which pits seven promising designers against each other with projects that range from practicality to conceptualness.

Carey Bertolet Grand has been serving Cardozo University and their Office of Career Services since 2015. She is dedicated to helping both current students and alumni create more fulfilling careers.

Achievement and Honors

Cardoza achieved double-figure points in 21 out of 25 contests at Nichols and averaged 10.6 points per game; additionally he connected on 51 three-pointers – more than any player at Nichols at that time!

Cardoza can often be found at local Santa Paula events, such as the Citrus Festival and Rotary Club Faulkner Farm Pumpkin Patch and Harvest Festival. He has even assisted at SPPD DUI checkpoints and on firing range.

He serves as co-chair of the Congressional Air Medical Caucus and as a member of the Blue Dog Coalition – 51 moderate to conservative House Democrats committed to fiscal responsibility and accountability with taxpayer dollars. Furthermore, he advocates on behalf of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and two-spirited people – winning them his 2010 Public Service Award from Association of Air Medical Services.

Personal Life

Cardoza can often be seen attending various Santa Paula events, including the Citrus Festival and Rotary Club Faulkner Farm Pumpkin Patch & Harvest Festival. He regularly volunteers at SPPD DUI checkpoints and firing range sessions as well as acting as a bad guy during special response team trainings.

Daniel Cardoza never shied away from a challenge. At Spring Creek Country Club on Thursday, Cardoza met Escalon’s best player head on in an epic shoot-out that left him victorious as TVL regular season champion with an even par score (41), finishing tied atop the leaderboard to claim first place for Ripon High School golfers.

Cardoza is currently studying graphic design at the University of Houston with the ultimate goal of becoming a police officer in his life.
