Daniel Quinlan is an award-winning journalist who specializes in news, features and documentaries primarily covering Southeast Asia.

PVT Quinlan’s Purple Heart was proudly returned at a ceremony on Friday, 22 May 2015. Speakers included representatives from Purple Hearts Reunited, National Purple Heart Honor Organization of Hudson Valley (NPHHOH) and Semper Fi Parents of Hudson Valley; this return made possible thanks to donors.

Early Life and Education

Daniel Quinlan was a freelance photojournalist and video journalist, having covered news, features and documentary videos in multiple Southeast Asian countries for both national and international publications.

John (Janell) of Bismarck, North Dakota; Vicky and Larry of Hastings Minnesota, Susan of Billings Montana and Matagi Alo from LaMoure all survive him as do many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 2-4 PM Saturday September 26 at Tezak Funeral Home.

Quinlan had been searching for his medal, hoping that it could be returned to its rightful owner – however, after reading an article about Vermont-based organization Purple Hearts Reunite, which has helped to return more than 150 military decorations back to veterans or their families. Unfortunately, though all attempts at finding it remain futile.

Professional Career

Daniel Quinlan has enjoyed a distinguished career in the music industry. He first made an impactful mark on Memphis music scene before expanding his experience across a broad array of musical genres and working with youth to help nurture creativity and foster positive changes within their community.

He has been featured in various local and international publications. Additionally, he has made contributions to documentary features and videos created for several NGOs.

Quinlan has also appeared in various television shows and movies, such as One Is a Lonely Number, The Hills Have Eyes and Breach. In addition, she has performed in a few theatre productions. She currently resides in Southern California with her designer-artist husband.

Achievement and Honors

In September 2018, he was presented with the Purple Heart Reunited medal that had been lost for over 100 years, thanks to the generous efforts of multiple organizations such as Purple Hearts Reunited, National Purple Heart Hall of Honor, Military Order of Purple Heart Service Foundation and Semper Fi Parents of Hudson Valley.

He was honored with the Gerri Henderson Memorial Silver Honor Key award, given each spring by Quinlan School of Business’s Department of Marketing to the graduating student with the highest grade point average in their major field of study. This accolade honors Professor Henderson’s legacy as an outstanding educator and pioneering researcher devoted to social justice and positive transformation.

Personal Life

Daniel Quinlan lived his life dedicated to family and friends. With an infectious laugh and warm demeanor, everyone who knew Daniel adored him.

He was well known in Lewiston for his landscaping skills and was a member of the American Legion. Additionally, he frequently volunteered with Toys for Tots.

Dan was an extremely dedicated father and grandpa. He would proudly show pictures of his twin granddaughters to anyone who asked about them, as well as spoiling them with treats like dinner at BoJack’s and sleepovers with lots of popcorn.

Dan was an avid reader and liked playing poker with his friends; in his free time he enjoyed chess and listening to music as well. Additionally, his loyal friendship meant he was always there when needed.

Net Worth

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance with distinction from Georgetown University. Since then he has worked as both an analyst and investment banker at Blackstone and other firms specializing in real estate debt strategies.

Quinlan has modelled for companies such as Perry Ellis, Energy Bomb Sports Drink, Truly Huge and Joe Snyder clothing lines. Additionally he has represented fitness brands including Body For Life, Teamm8, Male Basics (Netherlands), Croota and Sweat Collection.

Quinlan is an associate at Winget, Spadafora & Schwartzberg LLP where his practice centers around representing professionals and fiduciaries such as attorneys, broker-dealers, registered representatives, investment advisors and insurance brokers in civil litigation proceedings and regulatory proceedings. Additionally, he possesses experience with general insurance defense issues.
