Dan was a wonderful son, brother, father, grandfather and friend to everyone he interacted with and will be sorely missed by everyone he knew. Early Life and Education

Daniel was raised in San Francisco and enjoyed reading. He disliked books that had too much happiness; those that ended with a sweet ending would quickly fall by the wayside, favoring books with darker themes instead.

After graduating high school, Dan attended UC Berkeley and majored in political science and history; additionally he demonstrated exceptional writing talent by penning several short stories.

Settle made her Broadway debut with the musical Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in 2011 where she earned nominatons for an Outer Critics Circle Award and Drama Desk Award. Additionally she performed off-Broadway in Hands on a Hardbody; TheatreMania wrote of Settle as “an impressive force of nature as Norma with an enormous gospel range that hits harder than chigger bite.” Since then Settle has continued appearing both live onstage as well as appearing in films or on television programs.

Always there when needed with an infectious laugh or joke in hand he will be deeply missed by his girlfriend Tena Blake, daughter Alexes Bornstein and grandchildren Levi and Noa Bornstein as well as Diane Kenny Settle (Parents), Cary Settle (Stepfather), brother Dustin Settle (Stepfather), Christina Davis (sister) as well as many extended family members he attended Nathan Hale High School.

Personal Life

Daniel became well-known across his region and beyond for his healing miracles during his 33 year standing on a column, as well as being active church figure involved in Byzantine politics of the fifth century.

Early on in his life he vowed his devotion to God, petitioning the abbot of a monastery to allow him to reside there despite being so young. Inspired by Simeon the Stilite’s life and legacy, he felt called to follow in his footsteps. After nine years he experienced a vision in which two men asked him to take Simeon’s place on his pillar; this further solidified his resolve not to leave.
