Daniel Tishman is Vice Chairman and Member of the Board of AECOM Technology Corporation
Daniel Tishman, great grandson of Julius Tishman – founder of AECOM Technology Corporation which completed construction on both World Trade Center complex and Hudson Yards on Manhattan’s far West Side – serves as vice chairman and member of its board at AECOM Technology Corporation.
He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in patent litigation before both District Court and ITC, asserting and defending infringement claims related to batteries, consumer electronics, hybrid electric vehicles and more.
Early Life and Education
Dan Tishman attempted to break free of his family’s real estate legacy by enrolling at Evergreen State College and Lesley College, hoping to become either a research scientist or doctor.
Tishman Realty & Construction Company, founded by his father, is well known for its many Manhattan projects such as Hudson Yards on Manhattan’s far west side and World Trade Center (original). Additionally, Madison Square Garden and John Hancock Center were built by Tishman.
He serves on the boards of Tishman Hotel & Realty LP and its parent company, AECOM. Additionally, he is a longtime member of Real Estate Board of New York as well as Montefiore Medicine, National September 11 Memorial & Museum at World Trade Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Tishman Construction was called in to help rebuild the World Trade Center. Established in 1898 and sold to AECOM Technology Corporation in 2010, this firm managed the new 3.1 million-square-foot tower at One World Trade Center as well as several other projects.
David Tishman has also been active in many charitable and civic organizations, serving on the boards of Real Estate Board of New York and National September 11 Memorial & Museum at World Trade Center; serving as Chairman Emeritus at Montefiore Einstein College of Medicine; supporting development of The Sheryl and Daniel Tishman Cognition Neurophysiology Laboratory at Montefiore with his wife Sheryl Tishman as donors; as well as being chairman emeritus there.
Fish & Richardson partner Paul Osborn specializes in complex patent litigation both before the International Trade Commission and federal district courts, representing both plaintiffs and defendants involved in cases involving batteries, consumer electronics, chemicals, semiconductors and automotive products.
Achievement and Honors
Daniel Tishman is a pioneer of green building. He served as Chairman of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Sustainability Board and as a Trustee of Natural Resources Defense Council; additionally, he serves on boards including those for American Museum of Natural History’s Center for Bio-Diversity and Jackson Laboratory.
He and his company have played an instrumental role in changing New York into a greener city for residents, workers and visitors. Some of his pioneering projects include 4 Times Square’s first green skyscraper; 7 World Trade Center’s LEED-certified office tower; and in 2011, Montefiore Einstein honored Daniel R. Tishman and Sheryl Tishman Cognition Neurophysiology Laboratory at College of Medicine – two groundbreaking accomplishments!
Dan and Sheryl Tishman are committed philanthropists who support environmental, civic and medical causes. Together they established the Sheryl and Daniel R. Tishman Cognition Neurophysiology Laboratory at Albert Einstein College of Medicine; additionally Dan serves on Montefiore Medicine’s Board and as President of National September 11 Memorial & Museum’s Advisory Board.
Tishman’s company was acquired by AECOM in 2010, and he currently sits on their Board of Directors and chairs their Compensation Committee.
He serves on the Real Estate Board of New York as well as on the boards of Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and National September 11 Memorial and Museum. Additionally, he is one of NRDC’s founding trustees – an environmental advocacy organization known for their dedication.
Tishman Family Business, one of the world’s premier construction firms, has been behind some of Manhattan’s major projects – such as Hudson Yards on the far West Side and World Trade Center complex – including Hudson Yards on Manhattan’s far West Side and new World Trade Center complex. Tishman also sits on the board of AECOM International Engineering Firm which bought his family business back in 2010.
Dan Tishman is an accomplished litigator, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex patent litigation in district courts and before the U.S. International Trade Commission. His areas of expertise include consumer electronics, batteries, hybrid electric vehicles and other technologies; as well as serving on Montefiore Medicine’s board and various non-profit boards.
Tishman and Sheryl founded NorthLight Foundation together, an investment fund dedicated to finding solutions at the intersection of human and environmental landscapes that offer equitable and long-term health benefits for humans and the planet.
