David Barfield

David Barfield was the Chief Engineer for Kansas Department of Agriculture and spearheaded several legislative initiatives that improved water conservation and management. Following his retirement, he founded Kansas Water Resources Consulting to continue these efforts.

David Barfield is an entrepreneur who launched several businesses. He began as a janitor at the University of Michigan before founding J&B Cleaning Co. His expertise in commercial building maintenance eventually led to its sale to ITT Corp.

His son said that throughout his professional career, he remained dedicated to his employees and upheld his values. Additionally, he spent a great deal of time with his family.

He was an anthroposophist who studied Rudolf Steiner’s works. He translated some of Steiner’s writings and had some of his early essays published in anthroposophical publications.
