David Burchett is the Founder and CEO of Avance Vinyl, a premier destination for direct to consumer (DTC) shops offering top-quality vinyl, rhinestones, sublimation paper, crafting supplies and more. Additionally he owns The Plug T-shirt Store – Avance Vinyl’s physical print shop.
He is the author of two books on church healing, When Bad Christians Happen to Good People and Bring ‘Em Back Alive. He and his wife Joni reside in Texas and are parents to three sons.
Early Life and Education
David Burchett was born in 1869 to Jesse D Burchett and Emma E Burchett in Ohio, United States. They had one son together: Harrison Burchett.
In 1985, his and wife Joni’s lives took an abrupt turn when they learned their daughter Katie had a neural tube defect and wouldn’t live long. The couple was devastated.
Instead of mourning, they began journaling about their experiences. These entries served as a source of comfort for them and strengthened his sense of faith in terms of grace, kindness, and forgiveness.
Professional Career
David Burchett earned an Emmy Award-winning television sports director title by covering professional and collegiate baseball, football, basketball as well as the Olympic Games. However, his most renowned work was his coverage of the Houston Astros during their 2008 run to the World Series.
He currently represents clients in a wide range of legal matters, from complex commercial litigation to insurance defense. His trial experience includes successfully representing clients during numerous jury trials.
David has been an enthusiastic wrestler and coach in the Chicagoland wrestling community for most of his life, winning multiple state championships both as a competitor and coach. Additionally, David has supported Beat the Streets Chicago, Blue & Gold Scholarship Foundation, as well as many other wrestling related programs throughout Chicagoland and beyond for years.
Achievement and Honors
David Burchett has been an active participant in his community. He served on the Lordstown School Board for many years and also held board positions at Trumbull Career & Technical Center and Lordstown Rotary Club.
He has also been heavily involved in his professional life. Currently a member of the Ruppert team and having worked there for six years, his accomplishments include being named one of the state’s top ten managers and winning their employee of the year award for his efforts over that past year. These awards were given to him due to his outstanding leadership, strong work ethic, and attention to detail; he was also awarded their highest honor: Distinction Award – another testament to his exceptional abilities.
Personal Life
Dave Burchett is a Republican politician serving as the representative for Tennessee’s 2nd congressional district, located in Knoxville. He has been serving his constituents since 2019.
He served as mayor of Knox County and was a member of the Tennessee General Assembly, as well as serving in the Tennessee State Senate.
He is a self-described spiritual seeker who believes his life would be different if he were more aware of the little things in life that often go overlooked. In his book Waking Up Slowly, he shares how he attempts to see life through God’s eyes.
