David Cheek

David Cheek is the co-founder and President of Bethesda, MD-based Meridian Group and boasts over four decades of real estate industry expertise.

He is also the Co-Founder of Meridian Construction Group, which constructs high-end projects with an eye towards thoughtful tenant fit outs and amenity spaces.

Early Life and Education

Cheek was born in Greenwood, Mississippi in 1851 to Charles Cheek and Susannah Cheek.

He was the brother of Emma Cheek and Esther Cheek. In 1871 he wed Rachel Cheek.

David was both a teacher and member of the local board of education, serving for many years in service to his community.

He then transitioned into real estate brokerage, becoming a member of the Urban Land Institute.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from Centre College and an MBA from the University of Virginia – Darden School of Business Administration, as well as a certificate in Advanced Public Management. Furthermore, he is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Living in Columbia, Missouri with his two children, he enjoys riding Harley Davidsons and collecting antique guns.

As Partner and co-founder of The Meridian Group, he oversees all day-to-day operations of the company he founded in 1993. The Meridian is one of the region’s most comprehensive real estate firms with offices located throughout Raleigh, Charlotte and Fort Mill. Notable for their sexy staff as well as cutting edge technologies that simplify development projects.

Cheek has earned a place of honor in the Triangle commercial real estate sector during his 14-year tenure as its leader. A dedicated supporter of community organizations, he was one of the founding members of the Triad Association of Realtors and has long been an ardent champion for maintaining and improving quality of life in local communities.

David Cheek is an Oklahoma City attorney specializing in business litigation, real estate and construction law. For his achievements, David was recently recognized by Super Lawyers magazine and earned him a place of honor among other distinguished legal professionals.

In addition to his impressive legal expertise, he is known for being a bit of a geek with an affinity for cars and golf. He proudly owns a Ferrari F430 and has been playing the game since he was a child.

He is an avid fan of the game show The Price Is Right and hopes to one day become an astronaut. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Law class of 1974, he currently works as a partner at Cheek, Hodges & McAfee.

David Cheek is a husband and father of three who resides in Seven Lakes, North Carolina. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he currently serves as commander of a special staff.

He recently suffered a severe injury while playing with his grandchildren in the water. He took a shallow dive and ended up face down when he flipped over, damaging both C1 and C2 vertebrae.

After surgery, his mobility has returned some. But he will always require assistance to get around. The Cheek family is appreciative of all the kind words and support from friends and neighbors during this trying time. To cover expenses associated with his hospital stay and recovery process, they have launched a fundraising campaign.
