David Eliot is a well-known face on WLOX radio and TV news station in South Mississippi. He co-anchors the 4 O’Clock Show as well as WLOX News This Week from 5:00 PM Monday through Friday with Karen Abernathy.
He has been an active participant in Door County since 1996 and is always seeking ways to enhance life for residents and visitors alike. In addition to founding Peninsula Pulse newspaper, he also co-founded the Peninsula Pacers basketball team and organized events such as the Door County Half Marathon, Beer Festival, and Peninsula Century.

Eliot’s early life was shaped by his parents, both liberal social thinkers. His grandfather William Greenleaf Eliot founded Washington University and his mother Charlotte Stearns was an accomplished poet.
At fifteen, he began attending Harvard College as an undergraduate and later served as tutor and assistant professor. During this period, he published numerous poems in Harvard Advocate literary magazine and formed lasting friendships.
After graduating from Harvard, Eliot continued his graduate study at the Sorbonne in Paris for one year and then transferred to Merton College at Oxford. It was during this time that he penned The Waste Land and studied Greek and Sanskrit languages, becoming proficient in Aristotle’s philosophy.
