David Etheridge is an accomplished clarinetist and has made significant contributions to music education.

He is a professor at the University of Oklahoma and holds the David Ross Boyd Professorship in Clarinet. Additionally, he conducts masterclasses and regularly appears at state music conventions across the US.

Early Life and Education

Etheridge was born in Leavenworth, Kansas and moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music. However, after two semesters she left due to what she felt were limitations on her potential as a performer due to the academic approach taken at Berklee.

She then returned to Los Angeles, and began performing in clubs. Chris Blackwell noticed her demo tape and signed her to a contract with Island Records.

David is a doctoral candidate at Middlesex University and his research focuses on the music of Barry Gray (1908-84) – an influential figure in British pop culture during the 1960s. Unfortunately, David must finance his research independently since there are no student loans available to him.
