David Pendergraft

Brewster High School senior David Pendergraft is an unstoppable force on the court, capable of shooting 3-pointers, filling the lane and handling the ball with ease. In his illustrious career he has scored over 2,200 points and grabbed over 900 rebounds.

He possesses the kind of talent that has quickly made him a national recruit. Already, he has declared his commitment to Gonzaga University.

Early Life and Education

Pendergraft and his parents frequently traveled to Ellensburg and Yakima for AAU tournaments. Additionally, he spent summers in Spokane attending Dan Fitzgerald’s Signature Camp for high school players.

Pendergraft earned the titles of WIAA State of Washington “Mr. Basketball” and NCW Sports Awards High School Male Athlete of the Year during his junior and senior years.

He led Brewster to three state tournament titles in a row, winning the title as both a sophomore and junior.

As a freshman, Pendergraft made a non-binding verbal commitment to Gonzaga University and has been an important player both on and off the court for Coach Mike Raivio ever since. Fondly known as “Pendo” to teammates and fans alike, he’s truly a Swiss Army knife of talent and versatility.

Professional Career

David Pendergraft began his professional football career in 2006 and has played for several teams. He initially signed with the Indianapolis Colts before being waived and then transferred to the Bengals in December of that same year.

In his first season, he started six games and appeared in three more before being waived during the offseason.

Talented athlete, he enjoys a stellar reputation with the Bengals. His strong work ethic and devotion to his job make him an asset in any organization.

He has a passion for teaching young athletes the game of basketball and enjoys working with them to hone new skills. Over the past few years, he has aided many young players and coaches in developing their abilities.

Pendergraft earned himself a place on the all-West Coast Conference team and played an integral role in Gonzaga’s run to the NCAA Tournament championship game. His on-court successes ranged from starter to reserve, but it is his off-the-court accomplishments that truly standout from his impressive career. David has made a lasting impact on the School of Journalism through his academic achievements, earning recognition among faculty, staff, students and alumni. As one of its most recognizable alumni, David has earned numerous accolades for his remarkable success both inside and outside the classroom.

David Pendergraft, now a Gonzaga Bulldogs standout, had an ambition to reach the highest level of play. As a child, his family would drive to Ellensburg or Yakima for AAU tournaments in search of the toughest competition possible.

As a junior, his stellar basketball skills led to an extraordinary rise to the pinnacles of Washington high school basketball. Ranked among the top five players in the state and invited to play at the USA Basketball Festival as a senior, he achieved incredible success.

He’s an integral part of Gonzaga’s current success, and Few appreciates his heart and effort. With him leading the Bulldogs to potential victories in both the West Coast Conference and national title game, Few can confidently say that Gonzaga will achieve great things this year.
