The Duke Core Facility for Metabolomics

The Duke Core Facility for Proteomics has opened two positions for new faculty members. Each position focuses on the study of metabolomics, a field that accounts for over 50% of Duke’s business. The positions require at least a Bachelor’s degree and are offset by four years of experience if you already hold a graduate degree. For post-doctoral positions, you need at least 10 years of relevant experience.

Each Duke core research facility is home to the latest in scientific instrumentation and technologies, allowing students to pursue a wide range of research topics. Core facilities at Duke provide support for basic, translational, and clinical research. These facilities provide students and faculty with the training they need to conduct cutting-edge research and find new ways to improve human health.

In developing the core competencies, the Brower and Snyder workgroup adapted them to the unique environment of clinical research at Duke. They distilled 41 essential competencies for clinical research professionals. The development of these competencies required extensive communication with research staff. The team held Q&A sessions to solicit input from stakeholders. The result of the project is a set of standards that are applicable to all Duke researchers.
