Faith Evans – Biography and Music Career

Faith Renee Evans, an American singer, was born in Lakeland Florida. Later, she moved to New Jersey and then to Los Angeles. She has a beautiful voice and has sold over 50 million albums. Her parents were committed Christians and encouraged her love for singing. They worked hard to give her the best upbringing possible.

Evans’ first album, Keep the Faith, was a commercial success, reaching Number 3 on the Billboard 200 and number six on the overall Top 200. Her second album, Keep the Faith, was a critical success, with the critic Allison Samuels calling it a “melancholic mix of soul songs with a gospel edge.” Faith Evans’ second album, Keep the Faith, is filled with heartfelt lyrics about loss and love.

Growing up in Newark, New Jersey, Evans began singing gospel at an early age. Evans was an honor student who often performed in school plays. After graduating from high school, she was awarded a full scholarship to study marketing at Fordham University. However, she dropped out after only one year in order to pursue a career in music. Her music talent soon earned her steady work as a backup singer. She even performed on the album of Mary J. Blige, which was released in 1994.

Faith Evans’ parents were both singers. Her parents, Helene Evans and Richard Swain, moved from Lakeland, Florida, to Newark, New Jersey. Faith’s parents split up and Faith was raised in Newark, New Jersey by Helene. She began singing at a young age and was a part of church choirs and school musical productions. She received a full scholarship to Fordham University, but dropped out after one year to pursue her singing career.

Faithfully (2001) was Evans’ third album for the Bad Boy record label. It featured a guest appearance from famed R&B producer Sean “Puffy” Combs. The album reached number 14 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum. It was also the singer’s last album for Bad Boy Records.

Evans was born in New Jersey, and attended Fordham University. She later dropped out of college and married music producer Kiymma Griffin. They divorced in 2021. She lives in Los Angeles. Evans began singing as a backup singer for Al B. after she graduated from high school. Sure. In 1992, Evans was signed to Bad Boy Entertainment by Sean Combs.

Faith Evans was raised in foster care. Her mother left her in foster care at age 19. She was in the care of over 100 other children. When she got older, her mother returned home to Newark, New Jersey. She met her grandparents, Orvelt Kennedy and Johnnie Mae. She moved in next door to them.

Evans’ parents had two sons. Her first son, Joshua, was born on June 8, 1998. Ryder, her second son, was born March 22, 2007. Her parents divorced in 2011.
