George Brunemann, a Cincinnati-based tea party leader, claims he was personally targeted by the IRS.
On Wednesday, he and other leaders of the Cincinnati tea party hosted a national town hall meeting at The Farm in Delhi Township to address IRS targeting of conservative groups.
Early Life and Education
George Brunemann was born about 1866 and is a retired United States patent attorney who currently resides in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife and son. He earned both a bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and his master’s from the University of Miami School of Law. Additionally, George serves on the boards of both the American Bar Association and US Patent & Trademark Office.
On Wednesday, Brunemann hosted a town hall meeting in Hamilton County, Ohio, attended by several Republican officials and candidates who expressed their dissatisfaction with the IRS’ recent targeting of conservative groups. At this event, he pledged his support for stopping their political activities; furthermore, he revealed that he himself has been personally targeted by the IRS; yet despite this setback, he remains optimistic about winning the presidential race of 2012.
Professional Career
George Brunemann is an illustrious swimmer who made his mark at the University of Michigan. He’s competed in many prestigious events such as the NCAA men’s 1,650 freestyle and at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, winning gold medals in both 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle events. Since then, George has worked as a swimming coach, helping athletes of all levels perform at their peak performance levels.
He is an active Tea Party member and organizer in the Cincinnati area, organizing numerous town hall meetings on topics ranging from healthcare to federal budget concerns. Furthermore, he served as president of the Southwest Cincinnati Tea Party organization which he helped launch in 2012.
Personal Life
George Brunemann developed an interest in athletics from an early age. His parents encouraged him to join a local team, and his passion for the sport eventually culminated in success. While attending the University of Michigan, George became an NCAA champion in the 1,650 freestyle event and earned himself the title of Big Ten Swimmer of the Year.
He now assists athletes preparing for the Olympics as part of his mission to help young people find their passion and fulfill their aspirations. Additionally, he serves as president of the Southwest Cincinnati Tea Party and co-founder of a group that works to improve government operations. On Tuesday evening, he stated that both Republicans and tea party activists must put aside differences to focus on defeating Barack Obama in the 2012 presidential election.
