George Gosnell

Gosnell was a political organizer for the provincial Conservative Party in Vancouver Island’s Boundary District and championed the rights of immigrants seeking to settle there.

In 1908, he secured a government position as an archivist and organized an exhibition of historical documents to commemorate explorer Simon Fraser*’s descent into the mouth of the Fraser River 100 years earlier.

He served as CEO of Lawyers Cooperative, Canada’s largest publisher of legal reference books. Under his guidance, the company transitioned from print publishing to electronic publishing in 1989; ultimately being sold to Toronto-based Thomson Corp in 1989.
