George Rotundo – A Lifelong Buffalo Citizen

George Rotondo was a long-serving city councilor renowned for his commitment to his community. Additionally, he held the professional designation of nurse practitioner.

Recently, Muslim rights groups have accused Rotondo of posting Islamophobic social media posts. Jetpac, a political action committee that backs Muslim candidates for public office, and the local chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations have both called for an investigation into his conduct.

Early Life and Education

George Rotundo was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and had lived there his whole life. A self-employed car enthusiast and woodworker, George enjoyed reflecting back on his youth growing up nearby.

He was an enthusiastic cyclist, having pedaled on the Buffalo River Trail and in Westchester. A witty and engaging conversationalist, he had plenty to say about his favorite subjects.

He was an accomplished author with numerous notable books to his credit, such as American Manhood – for which he won the most prestigious award in this field. Other honors included being named a Harvard College graduate and having his work featured in several major law reviews. Most importantly though, was his generous heart and giving nature which he demonstrated daily by helping those in need.

Professional Career

Rotunda’s professional career spanned three decades, beginning with her time as the US Express in the WWF of 1984. They went on to win two WWF Tag Team Championships during that span; first against Dick Murdoch and Adrian Adonis in January 1985 followed by Brutus Beefcake and Greg Valentine two months later.

After leaving the WWF, he joined Ted DiBiase’s Million Dollar Corporation stable and began competing in singles matches. He teamed up with fellow member Bam Bam Bigelow and also engaged in a feud with Razor Ramon.

He returned to the NWA in 1990 as a face, using Captain Mike Rotunda as his maritime gimmick. Additionally, he appeared on WCW television show Starrcade 1999 where Rick Steiner, Kevin Sullivan, and Jim Duggan formed Varsity Club with Shane Douglas, Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, and Asya to team against The Revolution (Shane Douglas, Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, and Asya).

After retiring from wrestling in 2003, Rotunda launched a security company with his wife. In 2006, WWE rehired him as a road agent and he has made multiple face appearances as Irwin R. Schyster – an ex-IRS tax collector who would harass wrestlers and fans as “tax cheats” while imploring them to pay their fair share of taxes.

Achievements and Honors

George Rotundo was an inspiring and caring individual who brought out the best in everyone he encountered. He championed causes for those less fortunate, showing his compassion by providing assistance to those in need. His selfless acts of kindness made him a truly remarkable man.

He was an active and proud member of the Revere community as both a City Councillor and Registered Nurse. For over 14 years, he served his city and constituents admirably.

His sudden passing came as a shock to the Revere community. As Councillor-at-Large for many years, he was well known and beloved by his many friends and colleagues. At 55 years old, he passed away suddenly at the age of 55; on Monday night’s City Council meeting there was a moment of silence held in memory of him as an iconic Reverean and one of its finest.

George Rotondo was an incredibly caring individual, always willing to help those in need. It seemed as if he had a big heart; and those who knew him well appreciated this trait.

He served the community of Revere for over two decades as a City Councillor, always speaking up and advocating for its residents. With passion and determination, he had become an iconic figure within the city’s leadership.

He was an inspiring role model and beloved by those he touched. His strong faith and kind nature will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and many in the community.
