George Tzakis

George Tzakis is an owner and partner at W S International LLC, having joined the company six months ago.

He is a member of the Greek Orthodox Church and resides in Farmington Hills, Michigan. He is married to Debbie and has two children – Dianna and Christina. Additionally, he serves on both the Metropolis of Detroit Philoptochos Board as appointed by His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of Detroit.

Early Life and Education

George was a lifelong Detroit, Michigan Greek Orthodox churchgoer who loved his family and church community. Together with his wife Tula (nee Artemas), he was proud parents of two daughters: Elaine Tzakis and Annamaria Stornello. Educating himself further, George briefly taught in classrooms before transitioning into administration/management roles – something for which he received several awards. Tragically, on March 13, 2021 – one day after his 92nd birthday – George passed away peacefully on March 13th 2021 (a day after celebrating his 92nd birthday).

Professional Career

Professional careers encompass a range of occupations, positions or roles that require formal education and training. Examples include doctors, lawyers, accountants, scientists and authors – to name just a few! A person’s choice in career depends on their ambition in life as well as how they plan to apply their skills and experiences.

For example, someone may opt not to pursue a professional career as a doctor because they feel unable to balance family responsibilities and the demands of obtaining an academic degree. On the other hand, someone may choose to pursue professional work after attaining their academic degree as part of meeting financial goals and supporting their family. These decisions should be carefully considered.

Achievements and Honors

George Tzakis has achieved much in his professional career. As an accomplished surgeon who has performed over 4,000 transplants, he is widely recognized as a leader in organ transplant surgery. Furthermore, he serves on the Editorial Boards of numerous medical journals and has published over 700 peer-reviewed articles. Throughout his career he was honored with numerous awards and honors.

His most notable successes include winning the third Pan-European Prize in JA Europe, receiving the GAM Investments Financial Sustainability & Growth Award and being chosen as Leadership Award winner at this competition. He has also received numerous other awards for his contributions to art and business; most recently he was made an honorary doctor of the University of Staffordshire.

Personal Life

Personal life refers to any element of someone’s life not related to work or professional obligations. This could include hobbies, social activities and leisure time. A personal life can provide individuals with satisfaction or fulfillment while building relationships and reinforcing a sense of purpose outside of work.

George Tzakis has been an active participant in his church, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Farmington Hills, Michigan, since he was a child. As part of their Philoptochos chapter for over two decades, he served in various office positions such as President of his chapter and President of Metropolis of Detroit Board. Additionally, George serves on numerous national committees.
