Jack Bohman, 77, of Chatham Passes Away
Jack Bohman has earned a sterling reputation for results, market insight and integrity in the sale of luxury, new construction and probate properties in Chatham, Orleans, Harwich and Brewster.
He attended Deerfield Academy and the University of Virginia before venturing into real estate. Together with his wife Sally, they have two children named Mackenzie and Lane.
Early Life and Education
Jack Bohman, a longtime resident of Chatham who resided in Buckhannon West Virginia until recently, died Sunday, January 23, 2022 at his residence there at age 77.
Born in Gardner, Massachusetts and graduated from Deerfield Academy. Following this he attended Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, Pa where he held the rank of Cadet Sergeant Major achieving the highest non-commissioned officer rank possible in his class.
Jack Bohman kept reminding himself to enjoy himself during Saturday morning’s match play quarterfinals of Seagulls Fourball Championship at Hyannisport, and it paid off. Bohman and Paul Heffernan overcame a three-down deficit to come from behind and win their match, advancing them to this afternoon’s semifinals of Hyannisport’s championship flight flight. Other pairings making semifinals were Ed Kangas and Dan Falcucci from Sandwich Hollows as well as Steve Rourke and Colin Spencer from Cummaquid.
Professional Career
Jack Bohman has over 15 years of experience as a golf club professional and private country club operator, including membership development, real estate sales and high end new construction at several private clubs such as Cape Cod National in Brewster, Black Rock Country Club in Hingham and The Bay Club in Mattapoisett.
In 2008, Jack co-founded Bohman Thayer Real Estate with Todd Thayer of Chatham and Orleans offices, quickly becoming one of the premier real estate agencies on Lower Cape MLS area known for local market insight, integrity, and resourcefulness.
Jack and Sally reside in Chatham with their two sons Mackenzie and Lane. Both members of Eastward Ho! Country Club, they support numerous sports teams as fans while being actively involved with local community and charity organizations.
Achievement and Honors
Bohman led West Virginia University’s men’s swimming and diving team to its best finish ever at the NCAA Championship (23rd), coaching three Big 12 Individual All-Americans as well as nine student-athletes to CSCAA Scholar All-America honors. Additionally, three school records were set under his watch; this helped clinch WVU a share of 2014 Big 12 Regular Season Championship by defeating No. 24 Texas A&M!
Mr. Johnson is widely respected for his ability to inspire his athletes. Multiple times, he was awarded the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Coaching Excellence Award. Additionally, he co-authored multiple books related to competitive swimming.
Personal Life
He is an integral member of his community, serving on the Chatham Anglers board and supporting various local charities. Additionally, he enjoys golfing and boating on Pleasant Bay with his family – his two children attending Chatham Schools (Mackenzie and Lane). He graduated from Deerfield Academy and Dartmouth College respectively.
He has quickly established himself as one of the premier realtors in Chatham and Harwich, with an outstanding track record for results, market knowledge, integrity, and loyalty. A longtime resident of Chatham himself, he understands Cape Cod intimately.
He has diversified beyond real estate into other businesses as well, such as golf teaching. With this passion comes great acclaim – having mentored numerous students who have gone on to compete at both PGA and LPGA levels.
