Early Life and Education

Early childhood education is a crucial foundation for children’s future learning, behavior and health. Studies conducted over decades show how these formative years create the conditions necessary to foster social-emotional development as well as healthy growth and development throughout life.

The first six years of a child’s life are crucial periods in their biological brain development when billions of connections between neurons are made. Strong emotional development, such as self-confidence, emotion regulation, expression and positive self-belief, are essential for them to acquire social and academic abilities that will last throughout their lives.

A strong school-family partnership is essential for a child’s emotional and academic success. Parents, teachers and community leaders come together to create environments that nurture social, physical and mental well-being of young children – setting the stage for lifelong learning, behavior management and health.

Professional Career

John has been an inspirational educator for more than two decades, teaching on death and dying, bereavement, grief, and related topics at colleges and universities throughout America and Germany as well as at a state prison.
