On January 17th, 2020 Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Judge John Beamer to the Ninth Circuit, filling a vacancy created by Judge Dan Traver’s elevation to Fifth District Court of Appeal. Judge Beamer earned his undergraduate degree from Austin Peay State University and law degree from Barry University School of Law.
Early Life and Education
John Beamer was born on February 23, 1930 in Canton, Ohio to his loving wife Veronica. They moved to Sun Lakes in 1985 and enjoyed a lifelong retirement together.
John earned his Bachelor of Science in economics from Cornell University with honors, and then went on to obtain his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law.
At Cornell University, he earned the titles of swimming captain and president of the Men’s Senate. Additionally, he took several economics and English literature courses as well as playing baseball for fun. But most importantly, it was all about spending quality time with friends, classmates, and colleagues – especially at Cornell’s golf course! His favorite campus spot came in close second to University of Iowa College of Medicine in terms of enjoyment he experienced there.
Professional Career
John Beemer is a renowned trial lawyer with more than 50 years of experience. He currently holds the position of partner at the law firm Beemer and Beemer LLC in Clarks Green, PA.
His career has seen him handle several landmark environmental and mass tort cases that have earned him national recognition. Additionally, he has earned a reputation for advocating on behalf of those affected by environmental contamination.
Since 1966, he has been a member of the American Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association and Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association. Additionally, he is certified in civil trial advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
Achievements and Honors
John Beemer, a former college football player, earned numerous honors for his accomplishments both on and off the field. In 2015 he was awarded with the ACC Commissioner’s Cup and is an inductee into Virginia Tech Athletic Hall of Fame.
His coaching career saw him lead Ball State baseball to its 2022 Mid-American Conference (MAC) regular season championship and an appearance in the MAC Tournament title game. Additionally, he guided the Cardinals to a 123-65 record over four seasons as an assistant coach.
As an assistant coach, he also recruited two players to the Major League Baseball draft: Trey Sweeney and Will Klein. Both were selected in the first five rounds.
Personal Life
John Beemer was a philanthropist, but not without some missteps along the way. He made some financial errors that cost him dearly; for instance, spending more on his home than his kids; additionally, spending too much money at gym and doctor’s appointments led to serious credit card problems. Eventually though, John managed to pay off all creditors in full force – and best of all? He still lives in Blue Springs today!
He’s blessed with an array of engaging friends and relatives. He makes for an excellent dad and uncle, and the best news is that his family will remain together for many years to come. Despite his faults, he still manages to smile broadly with a heart full of love.
