The first years of a child’s life are vital, as their brains develop the most rapidly. They need to learn important social and emotional skills, as well as a broad base of cognitive development.
For this reason, early childhood education (ECE) is critical. It provides children with the foundations they need to grow into successful adults.
A number of ECE initiatives have been established to help children get the best start in life, including Head Start and Early Head Start. These programs offer free access to quality care and education for children from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
