Jack Kehler is an acclaimed character actor best known for his role as Dude’s landlord in 1998’s The Big Lebowski. He also had roles in The Man in the High Castle and Mad Men, among others.
After graduating from Penn State, he joined the United States Air Force as part of their Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) detachment. He served with 341st Wing at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana.
Captain Kehler quickly rose through the ranks to major and relocated his family to Washington, DC where he worked on Capitol Hill. Following that he completed a tour as Chief of the Strategic Missile Branch at the Air Force Office of Legislative Liaison before earning a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Oklahoma.
Achievements and Honors
Kehler entered the Air Force in 1975 as an ROTC graduate of Penn State University and commanded a Minuteman ICBM operations squadron at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri. Subsequently he held command positions at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana and Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.
His next assignment was as a missile operations staff officer at Strategic Air Command headquarters at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. Additionally, he served in the Air Force Office of Legislative Liaison as its point person on Capitol Hill for President Ronald Reagan’s ICBM Modernization Program.
He then returned to Washington, DC as a senior Air Force officer and served as Chief of the Space Superiority Division and Chairman of both the Space Superiority and Nuclear Deterrence Panel in the Office of Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans and Programs at US Air Force Headquarters. In 2005 he was promoted to lieutenant general.
