He was greatly inspired by his uncle, who encouraged him to pursue higher education. As a child, Mary would visit him in Jedburgh and read Latin with him before breakfast.
He attended the University of Pennsylvania as a young adult, serving as editor of their Catholic newspaper while there. He had an innate kindness that earned him respect from friends and family alike; his kindness earned him his induction into the Stark County Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame in 1988, while his net worth is estimated to be $3.7 billion. When not playing baseball or coaching his children’s teams in his spare time, John enjoyed watching sports – something which eventually lead him into baseball induction into their hall of fame as well.
He owns an estate in Beverly Hills that is worth between $13- 16 million. He and his wife Connie Sellecca live in a 9,462-square foot home on Strait Lane that is surrounded by 17 acres of land. Together with his children, they also have pet cats and dogs named Sellecca.
