John Massengill, age 54 of Brown Street in Gulfport, passed away on May 15, 2017. He was a former Marine and retired patrol captain who had served almost 30 years in law enforcement.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Massengill; three siblings; and many friends and family members. Born and raised in Gulfport, he will be greatly missed.

She is a special education major at East Carolina University and passionate about aiding others in their educational pursuits. She enjoys volunteering at her local church and tutoring underprivileged children, in addition to enjoying biking and spending time with family. Furthermore, she holds memberships in both the Honors College and Chancellor’s Student Leadership Academy – two institutions she holds with great honor!
