Pursley of Milledgeville; a daughter, Irene Pursley Miller (Charles) of Milledgeville; a son, John Augustus Pursley III (Helen) of Milledgeville; six grandchildren, Jennifer Brown Bell (Wiley) of Georgetown, S.C., James Parker Brown of Athens, Helen Marie Pursley Davenport (McKenzie) of Milledgeville, Molly Brown Stanton (Hayes) of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and John Augustus Pursley IV (Jean) of Milledgeville; and nine great-grandchildren.

Professional Career

john pursley has enjoyed a successful professional career in the racing industry. He has two NASCAR Whelen All-American Series championships in his career and won a total of 17 races in 2014.

Aside from racing, Pursley also pursued other passions throughout his life. He founded a company that was involved in upper extremity prosthetic research, as well as hospital administration and teaching.

He is currently a lecturer in English at Clemson University and co-director of the annual Literary Festival. He also directs a creative writing course at the school.
