He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Brooklyn College in 1974 and went on to receive his juris doctor from St. John’s University School of Law the following year, 1977. Nowadays he works as a partner at Zack Insurance Agency LLC in Ship Bottom, New Jersey. He has extensive legal experience, having practiced in multiple jurisdictions and covering a range of legal specialties such as admiralty, aviation, administrative law, computer law, corporate and employment law; environmental concerns; estates administration; finance services; insurance firms; international litigation matters and product liability claims. In recognition of his many years of service to the Brooklyn County Bar Association he was inducted into their Hall of Fame. When not at work he enjoys playing bridge with fellow members at his favorite pastime – an activity which he takes seriously!

John Toriello is a Managing Director at General Atlantic. He oversees the firm’s global portfolio management and due diligence processes, as well as provides portfolio companies with advice on financial matters such as fundamental performance monitoring, liquidity planning and capital markets readiness.

He previously served as a Managing Director at Blackstone, leading their accounting policy function and providing support to investment professionals and portfolio companies on various corporate and financial matters. Prior to that he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he advised private equity firms on acquisitions, divestitures and capital markets transactions.

He specialized in litigation, including jury and nonjury trials, appeals to federal and state appellate courts and international arbitration of contract disputes. His representation of clients spans marine, aviation, satellite, CGL, environmental issues, reinsurance claims and business interruption claims.

Achievements and Honors

John Toriello has earned numerous honors for his accomplishments and contributions to the community. He founded and directs Fiscal Digital, a Guatemalan citizen volunteer organization that utilizes public immutable blockchain technology for fair elections.

His general practice involves representing clients on contract and product liability disputes involving heavy industrial equipment, manufacturing plants, aircraft, vessels and satellites. Furthermore, he directs judgment-enforcement litigation as well as serving as arbitrator in ICC and private arbitrations.

Personal Life

John Toriello is an exemplary worker who has achieved much in his life. He displays great dedication and devotion towards his family, along with a positive outlook and attitude that inspires others. His success can be credited to his strong work ethic and dedication.

His life has been filled with many obstacles, one of the biggest being losing his mother at a young age.

He then returned to school and worked in the telephone company before joining Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as an employee. Later, he married Zina and they raised six sons together.

He is an experienced trial lawyer, having successfully represented clients in jury and nonjury trials, appeals in state and federal appellate courts, as well as international arbitrations of contract disputes. His practice encompasses general liability, admiralty, aviation, commercial general liability (CGL), satellite operations, environmental concerns, reinsurance claims and business interruption claims.
