Early Life and Education
Kamal Oliver gained international business exposure through her father’s hotel in Cuba as a child, which gave her extensive exposure to international business. Later she became an educator dedicated to public service – both as a public school teacher and member of Everyday Boston’s Bridge Project.

Kamal has also been an active volunteer with Dress for Success, leading workshops on financial literacy and professional development for low-income women. Additionally, she served on the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law student body as both law student ambassador and an executive member for Women’s Legal Education Action Fund.
Kamal believes the key to his success lies in taking time away from any project or venture at times, in order to reevaluate whether it’s worth diving back in. He took this approach when playing blackjack, trading bonds and now writing his book.
Personal Life
Kamal Oliver hails from Atlanta and attended university before working at Dunkin’ Donuts. While still exploring his options for the future, an executive of Dunkin’ Donuts visited his school and informed him of their job of taste-testing doughnuts – this inspired Kamal Oliver to pursue writing as his career.
Kamal was able to uncover discrepancies in the accounts and confronted Magnus Steele, chief accountant for his firm and suspected Ponzi scheme runner Magnus Steele was operating. Once exposed by Kamal he left the firm and founded a charity under his new name of Oliver Kind.
Later, Oliver learned from Edith’s hostage takers that her children are being held hostage and that whoever pays the ransom first will see her children freed, while those who wait will watch them die. Oliver and Jane attempted to gain entry by climbing up a chimney but were overpowered before making any phone calls.
