Kent is a nationally-recognized Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional who has spoken at multiple trade conventions and conferences. He specializes in cost segregation services for construction contractors as well as closely held businesses.
Thomas was arrested during the Easter Rising of 1916 at Bawnard House by the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC), subjected to court martial proceedings, and executed on 9 May.
Early Life and Education
Kent hails from Knoxville, TN and graduated from the University of Tennessee. With his wife Dawn he runs Balin’ Twine horse trail riding operation as well as teaching children’s sports at church. Furthermore, they both remain actively involved with community projects and county government.

Kent Thomas has made an impactful mark in many facets of the golf industry. A golf professional for over 25 years, Kent Thomas has worked at public, small private, resort and corporate facilities as well as working alongside PGA tour professionals and participating in many tournaments throughout his career.
He specializes in cost segregation and regularly speaks on this topic at national trade conventions. Additionally, he provides accounting and tax services to contractors and construction firms.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and unfailingly served his family, friends, and neighbors with no reservation or hesitation. Additionally, he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, frogging and horseshoes games with his loved ones.
He was an avid sports fan, supporting Michigan State Spartans, Detroit Red Wings and Lions teams that he found most enjoyable. Additionally, he would attend Boy Scout campouts and summer camps with his son’s troop; as well as watching them play baseball and volleyball.
He is a neurologist and clinical scientist specializing in stroke. His program involves basic, translational, and clinical research activities focused primarily on this condition. Dr. LaPlaca serves on numerous scientific/medical boards including those of the American Academy of Neurology and National Institutes of Health.
Kent has an infectious sense of humor and remains positive even when facing challenging circumstances. He enjoys spending time with family, baking and exploring Tacoma. However, as a straight-size white male cisgender individual he recognizes that his privilege and dominant identities could potentially cause harm in healing spaces; consequently he continues to educate himself regarding anti-oppression measures, body liberation strategies and positionality issues.
