Early Life and Education
Dr. Lucas graduated with honors from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania before receiving his dental degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Additionally, he joined Omicron Kappa Upsilon – an honor society exclusive to only top 1% graduates – upon earning his dental degree.
His experience at Case Western Reserve University taught him to think critically and embrace new ideas. Since graduating he has lectured nationwide on his airway focused orthodontic approach while looking out for opportunities to acquire new skills.

Dr. Michael Lucas is a board-certified orthodontist who has helped many individuals attain an attractive, healthy smile. After being awarded the Washington Scholar full-tuition scholarship at University of Washington – where he achieved college honors – Dr. Lucas attended University of California San Francisco to obtain his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree and complete three-year specialty training in orthodontics.
He believes investing in one’s smile is one of the wisest investments they can make and enjoys unlocking each individual’s potential. Together with his team, they strive to offer comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable one-of-a-kind experiences for their patients.
He loves spending his free time with his family, traveling and discovering new restaurants and travel spots all around the globe. Additionally, he plays golf regularly and volunteers with local charities.
Achievement and Honors
Dr. Lucas enjoys providing patients with complex orthodontic cases, and appreciates how a new smile can change someone’s life. He firmly believes in being honest with his patients about all their available options in order to assist them in making an informed decision that is best suited to them.
He has developed and patented various technological innovations in orthodontic imaging, mechanics and software. Furthermore, he has contributed significantly to airway focused orthodontics through lectures and articles written on this subject matter.
His favorite part of his job is being able to witness how his work changes people’s lives and brings joy into their lives. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with family and playing sports and board games – as well as coaching youth athletics programs in Tennessee as well as trout fishing in the Smoky Mountains!
Dr. Lucas grew up in a dental family and always knew he wanted to work in dentistry. He takes great pleasure in building long-term relationships with his patients and helping them feel more confident about their smiles. Outside the office, Dr. Lucas spends his free time enjoying time with Melissa and Charlie – their Golden Doodle pup!
He’s an avid traveler and enjoys experiencing different cultures, believing that an inviting smile is key in life and is proud to be part of a team helping individuals realize their full potential.
He currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife and son. When not working, he enjoys playing soccer and going to the beach – activities which he is an active member of both American Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Lucas offers her patients honest and straightforward advice about their oral health, providing ethical individualized dental care in an inviting atmosphere during treatment. Dr. Lucas understands the need for her patients to have someone they can rely on who can guide them through all available dental options to find what fits best with their unique requirements.
He takes great pleasure in lifelong learning, especially orthodontics education, as a passion. Additionally, he established a local chapter of Smile for a Lifetime to give back to his community and spend quality time with family, including miniature dachshund Ash. Other interests include live music performances, cinema trips and tennis – he lives in Pittsburgh’s North Hills neighborhood.
