Peter Oliver stood out among both slaved and free artisans of Moravia by being permanently trained in his craft: pottery making was his calling and its sale allowed him to buy his freedom; through such work he transcended bodily servitude for spiritual equality and solidarity.

Oliver’s groundbreaking work in contemporary American Indian fine art has won him both national and international acclaim. He has held many exhibitions as well as public lectures and presentations; donated pieces to local schools; as well as given away pieces through charity organizations he donated them all over.
