Rijo John is an economist and public health policy analyst based in Kerala, India. His research interests include evidence-based public policies for tobacco control, alcohol regulation, and sugar sweetened beverages regulation in low- and middle-income countries.

Rijo was raised in poverty in the Dominican Republic and signed a contract with the New York Yankees at age 15. Despite numerous injuries, he made it to the major leagues at 18 years old.
