Ross Oliver – Auckland Orthopaedic Lawyer and Managing Partner at Crestview Partners
Oli Ross has been spoilt since birth. His hypochondriac mother provides lavish care, and has never asked him for money for anything – an extraordinary fortune for which to pay!
He specializes in valuations for estate-, gift- and income-tax purposes as well as mergers and acquisitions and financial reporting purposes, with an additional expertise in valuing fractional interests in private equity funds and family limited partnerships.
Early Life and Education
Oliver was raised in Oakham and attended Brooke Priory and Ketton Primary Schools before going on to Stamford College for further studies and working for his father’s removal business to save up for travel.
He earned his J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of the Law and his BBA with honors at Eastern Michigan University. Since then he has written extensively in areas related to US social history, working-class history, popular culture, and film history.
He founded Out-of-Court Solutions Inc. and pioneered the Situational(tm) approach to mediation as an advanced method for quickly and amicably resolving divorce, legal separation, co-parenting issues and other family matters quickly and compassionately. Since 2003 he has mediated over 3,000 cases while conducting numerous training sessions for family law practitioners, business enterprises, nonprofit organizations and government agencies.
Ross Oliver serves as general counsel of Crestview Partners. In this capacity, he advises on fund formation, acquisitions and sales of investments, tax structuring, litigation and regulatory compliance matters that arise within the firm and its funds. Prior to working at Crestview, Ross worked at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP in New York.
He was selected in the fifth round of the 1998 NFL Draft by Dallas Cowboys and made two games as a rookie player for them before going on to join Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers, playing both guard and tackle positions respectively.

Ross Oliver was an engaging leader of Auckland Orthopaedic community who set high standards while remaining approachable and encouraging. His passion was life and engaging personality were an asset.
Oliver led Purdue men’s cross country to five top five finishes in Big Ten competition and three NCAA Championship appearances since 1950 during his time.
At Indiana, Coach Cohn helped numerous individual runners earn All-America honors, such as Grant Fisher in the NCAA indoor mile and Sean McGorty in the outdoor 5,000 meters. Furthermore, he mentored six Academic All-Big Ten selections as well as one Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. Furthermore, his footwear company created shoes made from cactus leather which requires no water for growth compared to animal leather products.
Ross Oliver joined Crestview Advisors as partner and general counsel in 2011. Since then he has provided advice to the firm and its clients regarding fund formation, acquisitions, sales of investments, tax structuring, litigation, regulatory compliance issues as well as any legal concerns associated with investment management.
Crestview portfolio companies include Arxis Capital Group and Cumulus Media (chairman of its audit committee), among others. He was also named chairman of New York City Bar Association’s Tax Section in 2010.
He is an advocate for animal rights, with a passion for sustainable fashion such as cactus leather. The brand works with local suppliers to produce its products, paying its workers fair wages. Cactus leather provides a more sustainable alternative than animal skin and is PVC-free.
Oliver has amassed an estimated net worth of $20 Million thanks to his successful career in financial trading and analysis. Known for his unique approach to trading, which has amassed him an extensive following among traders worldwide.
He has made several notable television appearances on British television, such as interviews and panel shows like Have I Got News For You. Additionally, DVDs featuring his performances have also been made available to buy.
Cumulus Media Inc has appointed him as director, wherein he has sold and purchased equal shares over the last three months, as well as no significant insider transactions during that timeframe. At present, he holds 5500 shares of Cumulus Media’s 5500-share total. Cumulus’ revenue comes from sales of local, regional and national advertising space.
