Thomas Scott was part of the first wave of people leaving Ireland and immigrating to Canada West where he found work as a labourer before joining the anti-Catholic Orange Order group that opposed Louis Riel’s rebellion and attempted to maintain peace throughout Canada West; eventually this resulted in his execution.
