Stephanie Benjamin is an emergency medicine doctor and prolific journaler who began journaling as an outlet during kindergarten recess/snack time adventures – eventually going on to publish work both medically related (The New York Times), non-medical (KevinMD/GomerBlog etc) and inspirationally related (Chicken Soup for the Soul etc).

In the early 1980s she worked at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Executive Assistant to Vice Chancellor David Bollier. She oversaw department budget, personnel and space. In addition, she ran Jonas E. Salk Scholarship Program and processed student academic complaints. Furthermore, she served as speechwriter for chancellor; this role was first held by a woman. Her work was greatly respected.
