Steve Asher was known to many, serving our nation, traveling the globe and being an avid biker. Additionally, he took great pleasure in spending time with family, friends and pets.

He was always willing to lend a helping hand and had the capacity to make anyone feel special, leaving his memories alive within those whose lives he touched. Those who knew him will miss him dearly.

Early Life and Education

Stephan Asher was a kind, generous friend and family man who always went the extra mile in lending his support. In addition to golf and sports fanaticism, Stephan loved spending time on the golf course as well as spending time with four-legged companions like Corgi Yorgi, Walker Morrie & Bronte (his beloved corgis).

He spent three years touring with Up With People, an organization dedicated to multiculturalism and racial equality, where his travels were unforgettable and where he made lifelong friends.

He later served as an assistant coach with the University of Maryland men’s basketball team, filming game and practice footage, filming scouting reports, tracking statistics, overseeing recruiting databases and coordinating team travel arrangements. James Madison University awarded him with a bachelor of exercise science. Furthermore, he coached their club basketball team.

Asher made a name for himself as both an outstanding baseball and football player as well as an accomplished coach. He served as graduate assistant coach of Maryland men’s basketball for two years as well as basketball performance intern.

He is passionate about helping others succeed in their careers, serving as a top sales keynote speaker and business consultant, having provided many organizations with assistance in increasing revenue and profit growth.

He assists large family-owned real estate businesses by offering cash flow analysis, IRS Section 1031 exchanges, cost segregation studies and complex tax strategies and transactions. Prior to coming to Rice, Asher spent four years as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina and two seasons assisting at NCAA Division III Lycoming College – coaching the offense, filming game footage for editing purposes, creating scouting reports, as well as overseeing recruiting database administration were his responsibilities at both institutions.
