Steve Asher – A Man of Many Friends
Steve Asher was known to many, serving our nation, traveling the globe and being an avid biker. Additionally, he took great pleasure in spending time with family, friends and pets.
He was always willing to lend a helping hand and had the capacity to make anyone feel special, leaving his memories alive within those whose lives he touched. Those who knew him will miss him dearly.
Early Life and Education
Stephan Asher was a kind, generous friend and family man who always went the extra mile in lending his support. In addition to golf and sports fanaticism, Stephan loved spending time on the golf course as well as spending time with four-legged companions like Corgi Yorgi, Walker Morrie & Bronte (his beloved corgis).
He spent three years touring with Up With People, an organization dedicated to multiculturalism and racial equality, where his travels were unforgettable and where he made lifelong friends.
He later served as an assistant coach with the University of Maryland men’s basketball team, filming game and practice footage, filming scouting reports, tracking statistics, overseeing recruiting databases and coordinating team travel arrangements. James Madison University awarded him with a bachelor of exercise science. Furthermore, he coached their club basketball team.
Asher made a name for himself as both an outstanding baseball and football player as well as an accomplished coach. He served as graduate assistant coach of Maryland men’s basketball for two years as well as basketball performance intern.
He is passionate about helping others succeed in their careers, serving as a top sales keynote speaker and business consultant, having provided many organizations with assistance in increasing revenue and profit growth.
He assists large family-owned real estate businesses by offering cash flow analysis, IRS Section 1031 exchanges, cost segregation studies and complex tax strategies and transactions. He was also an incredible father to Jill (his daughter) and Scott (his son). Furthermore, he was an amazing husband, mother and grandmother.
Achievement and Honors
Steve Asher is a talented filmmaker whose works have garnered him many accolades and nominations, including an Academy Award nomination and Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize victory. Additionally, numerous festivals around the globe have honored his films with accolades.
He currently serves as assistant coach of Rice University women’s basketball under head coach Tina Langley, helping guide them to NCAA Tournament appearances and one conference title during his time there.
Prior to coming to Rice, Asher spent four years as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina and two seasons assisting at NCAA Division III Lycoming College – coaching the offense, filming game footage for editing purposes, creating scouting reports, as well as overseeing recruiting database administration were his responsibilities at both institutions.
Steven Lewis Asher had many friends. His vast network of loved ones were happy to spend time with him, and he enjoyed exploring new places through travel.
He spent several decades working in the arts and was actively engaged with various organizations. He wrote and directed films, such as Raising Renee – an award-winning documentary broadcast worldwide – while his book Filmmaker’s Handbook has become essential reading in film schools around the globe.
Mr. Green was born and raised in Princeton, Kentucky and enjoyed music, paranormal research, macabre subjects and outdoor night activities, particularly camping trips with Nina. He leaves behind Nina as well as their four-legged family: Yorgi the corgi, Walker Morrie and Buddy B.
Steve Asher was an active member of his community, serving as President of Jackson County Home Builders Association for three years and helping establish its Foundation. Additionally, he donated funds to several local schools.
Once graduating high school, Asher traveled for three years with Up With People – an organization which promotes multiculturalism and racial equality – before eventually being recruited by this company as their tour director. This experience would forever alter his path in life.
After leaving Up With People, Asher became James Taylor’s manager. Under his guidance, Taylor produced a string of multi-platinum albums during this period; Linda Ronstadt was also managed by Asher during this time. Furthermore, Asher owned and operated his own TV commercial production company producing TV commercials and branded content production; On 2 March 2023 alone he sold 17200 Brookdale Senior Living Inc shares worth more than $57,276 at auction.
