Steve Kennedy is an attorney specializing in representing clients in various matters. This includes commercial liability insurance policies, business disputes and complex litigation cases.

Early Life and Education

Steve Kennedy holds both degrees in architecture from the University of Arkansas and law from Southern Methodist University. As a partner at Canterbury, STUBER, ELDER & GOOCH law firm he specializes in construction management law as well as labor law issues as well as real estate matters.

He has also been active in his community through membership with Koenig Lane Christian Church and Pflugerville First United Methodist, serving as chair for Staff-Parish Relations and Worship Committee Leader respectively.

David enjoys painting outdoors year-round on Cape Cod’s peninsula of Provincetown with its narrow streets and historic buildings, preferring plein air work with all its heat, mosquitoes and thorns to working indoors in his studio. He has shown at numerous galleries.

Steven Kennedy serves as a securities lawyer. He advises clients on an array of corporate issues, from mergers and acquisitions to significant deals. Steven leads his firm’s Minneapolis office. In addition, Steven counsels private equity and venture capital investors in multiple transactions.

He specializes in plein air painting – painting outdoors using traditional styles – in order to capture the mood and light of any particular location. Rather than working from inside a studio environment, he prefers outdoor painting for its freedom, even though this means dealing with heat, mosquitoes and thorns!

He has over three decades of energy banking experience, beginning his career with MBank (Dallas) in 1986 and later transitioning to Amegy Bank in Houston. At Amegy Energy Group – his current position – the team manages over $4 billion in energy loan commitments for over 270 E&P and oilfield service companies.

Achievement and Honors

He was known for his generosity with time and advice, always happy to lend a helping hand when asked by friends or colleagues. Additionally, he enjoyed photography, history, space exploration and travel; was an avid supporter of his daughters dance performances and offered to coach youth soccer.

He holds an associate professorship at the Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University and his research focuses on business sustainability and circular economy strategies as a solution for grand societal challenges. Kennedy has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals.

The Kennedy Center Honors are annual ceremonies that recognize individuals for their lifetime achievements in the arts. Previous recipients have included singers, actors, politicians, musicians, writers and other performers such as singers. Broadcast on CBS every December with dignitaries and celebrities in attendance – this event never disappoints!

Personal Life

Kennedy is an accomplished artist and has participated in multiple one-man shows. His pieces can be found in collections at The Salmagundi Club (New York City), Wequassett Inn & Resort (Cape Cod), and New Haven Paint and Clay Club.

Kennedy also serves as guitarist in a renowned local musical theatre group, performing roles such as RENT, Godspell, Spring Awakening, Seussical and Cabaret productions.

Since 2002, he has competed in FLW tournaments. Early in his career he dominated BFLs, notching nine top 10 finishes including four wins.

As an avid golfer and saltwater angler, he and Julia enjoy family life together with two children. Additionally, he’s involved with numerous community groups, volunteering as part of UCF CVHP since 2010 to collect and archive veterans’ oral histories.

While he has not released the exact figures on his net worth, estimates put it in the millions. They have invested in real estate and stock market investments as well as operating a family-owned business and managing a 160-acre farm.

John Kennedy has long championed fiscal responsibility and economic development. He has made donations to numerous charities such as CHKD and the Army War College Foundation. Furthermore, he serves as founding chairman of Summit Bank based out of Panama City, Florida.

As part of his decision not to run for reelection in 2017, he resigned from the Senate and moved back home in order to focus on his family business and founding membership of Madisonville Methodist church. Additionally, he continues his legal practice part time while operating a real estate firm.
