Steven Delmar serves as Assistant Men’s Golf Coach at the University of Maryland. Prior to this position, he enjoyed an accomplished playing career at Coastal Carolina University as well as four years serving as Assistant Golf Professional at Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, MD.

Delmar made an outstanding 12-foot par putt on the par-5 16th hole on the Wanamaker Course to take home victory while Pearce lost in overtime after missing his putt at 18.

Early Life and Education

Steve Delmar has over four decades of experience as a teacher, parent and family educator, program administrator and community leader. Currently serving as CEO for LUME Institute and Executive Director at University City Children’s Center – two lab schools dedicated to his pedagogy of early childhood education – Steve is recognized for his success as an early childhood educator.

His dogs include Alaskan malamutes and wolf hybrids which he enjoys taking on nature hikes, photography is another passion he possesses with keen interests in wildlife photography, St Louis Psychoanalytic Institute membership is another highlight for him – having worked at several Missouri educational institutions prior to Columbia Country Club where he replaced Bob Dolan who holds a bachelor of management degree from Coastal Carolina University.

Professional Career

Steve Delmar has completed over $7 billion of real estate transactions. Specializing in luxury coastal real estate and new construction, his expertise covers every aspect of real estate investment including finance and appraisal.

Delmar came to Columbia Country Club after six years as Assistant Golf Professional of Columbia Country Club. An exceptional golfer himself, Delmar won four MAPGA major championships during this time.

Even while dealing with strong winds, Delmar started strong by birdieing his first two holes and making an eagle on the third hole. Though his pace did drop on the back nine, his final birdie putt came on 18th hole to give him an 8-under 64 and give him three shot advantage in this event.

Achievement and Honors

After retiring as a Marine Fighter Pilot, Steven Delmar immersed himself in Southern California real estate investments through his own investment firm and also served on the board for Homeless Prenatal Program in San Francisco which helps homeless pregnant women overcome addiction to secure housing and employment.

After succeeding Bob Dolan at Columbia Country Club, Delmar joined a select group of PGA Professionals as the new incumbent at this historic club. A graduate from Coastal Carolina University and four Middle Atlantic Section major titles under his belt.

Kenny Pigman of Norco, Calif. currently enjoys a two-shot advantage after two rounds. A double bogey at the eighth hole and another on 11 resulted in him sliding further down the leaderboard, but birdies on 15 and 16 kept him competitive.

Personal Life

Steven Delmar serves as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Islet Sciences, a clinical stage pharmaceutical company developing novel technologies for diagnosing and treating metabolic disease. He earned his B.S. in Management at Coastal Carolina University and also served as assistant men’s golf coach at University of Maryland.

He is also a PGA Professional who has won four Middle Atlantic Section PGA of America major titles. Additionally, he served as Assistant Golf Professional at Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, MD.

As an accomplished musician, he performed at the 2007 Live Earth concert in Bochum, Germany in support of Mikhail Gorbachev and Desmond Tutu’s Peace Centre Foundation. Now living in Del Mar, California – and taking advantage of his entrepreneurial experience by opening up a successful restaurant – his experience allows him to anticipate client needs even before they are identified as such.
