Steven McGuire serves as an Assistant Teaching Professor in Villanova University’s Augustine and Culture Seminar Program. Additionally, he directs the Matthew J. He is the author of multiple books, such as Concepts of Nature: Ancient and Modern (Lexington Books 2016) as well as Eric Voegelin and the Continental Tradition (Lexington Books, 2017). Additionally, he has published articles related to political philosophy history as well as free societies.
McGuire was the first in his family to complete high school and college, earning both degrees from Providence College (BA) and IESE Business School in Barcelona (MBA), Spain respectively as well as Ph.Ds from Coimbra University, University of Connecticut State University, and The George Washington University.

McGuire was the first in his family to graduate high school, attending Joseph S. Clark Senior High in New Orleans where he earned the valedictorian award before attending Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College on full academic scholarships.
He has published widely on international political economy and international business, particularly technology policy. He has received research grants from the British Academy, EU (Framework Seven and Horizon 2020) and Nuffield Foundations.
He is a member of the Chartered Association of Business Schools and serves on Peer Review panels for EQUIS. Additionally, he serves as Dean of University of Sussex Business School and as part of its University Executive Group which advises its Vice-Chancellor.
Personal Life
Stephen McGuire was an only child, yet his parents encouraged and supported his success at school. He graduated as valedictorian of Joseph S. Clark Senior High in New Orleans before attending Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College on an academic scholarship; eventually earning a magna cum laude bachelor of physics degree.
McGuire was actively engaged in community service during his time at UI, including helping rescue people from flooding on Iowa River. For his efforts, Iowa Governor Chet Culver presented him with Lifesaving with Valor Award in 2007.
He enjoys cycling in his free time, competing in multiple endurance bike races and teaching 3-D bicycle building classes at the UI. Additionally, he has traveled across the country riding a bicycle.

Maguire began competing in local snooker competitions with his family’s full support, eventually becoming recognized as an expert player. He boasts some of the highest century breaks ever seen and is widely known for his rivalry with Shaun Murphy.
