Professional Career

Whitney Tornow was an outstanding UW-Oshkosh athlete from 2006-10, competing in softball and tennis for the Titans. On the softball field she earned All-WIAC First Team recognition twice while earning All-Region recognition both seasons as well. Additionally, Neenah High School graduate Whitney Tornow ranks in the Top Eight Offensive Categories including Slugging Percentage Home Runs Doubles Batting Average (SOBPBA).

She amassed a career batting average of.420 while hitting 31 home runs, 48 doubles and eight triples over 152 games played for the Titans. Additionally, she holds the WIAC single season records in terms of both batting average and total bases. Living in Sayner and working as a personal trainer at Lakeland Fitness & Golf in Minocqua; in 2022 she was honored with induction into UW-Oshkosh Athletic Hall of Fame.

Achievement and Honors

Whitney Tornow earned All-America honors twice while center fielding for UW-Oshkosh softball team from 2007-10, as an All-America citations as center fielder in 2009 and 2010. A graduate from Neenah High School, she currently leads her conference’s all-time career lists for home runs, doubles and total bases as well as single season records in batting average and walks. Tornow helped lead them to an 110-60 mark from 2007-10 along with both regular season and postseason conference titles during that time frame.

Tornow played tennis at UW-Oshkosh as well, placing second on their all-time list for singles (33 victories) and doubles wins (29) respectively. On Sunday she was honored by being honored inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame.

The 48th class included Ellie Bogdanske, Rachel Heitkamp Chaney, Bob Harrington, Andy Kimball, Christina Cahoon Kremel, Dijouvne Marsh Abe Mendoza and Esrold Nurse.

John Tornow was also an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Nazarene. Additionally he enjoyed golf. Brian Tornow played baseball at Wooster University from 1988-1991 – Brian also attended Wooster from 1988-1991 – avidly playing Wooster baseball from 1988-1991 as his brother played baseball at Wooster from 1988-1991. John Tornow was an active member and avid golfer himself as well.
