Tom is responsible for overseeing Majestic Realty Co’s 2,000-acre Port Grande industrial park development in Laredo, Texas as well as leading their industrial development activities in San Diego’s Otay Mesa submarket including Landmark at Otay.

Thomas has frequently upheld religious liberties even when they seem at odds with competing liberal priorities. For instance, in Gratz v. Bollinger (2007) he supported a Supreme Court decision which nullified public school policies meant to achieve racial balance.

Early Life and Education

Tom Simmons was born into a military family, which meant much of his early life involved traveling around. After attending University of Nebraska Lincoln for college basketball and joining Delta Tau Delta fraternity he decided to make himself available as a journalist for radio stations across America and worldwide.

He worked in semiconductor manufacturing for four decades and founded his own company in the 1990s. A devout Christian, he loved sharing his faith and was always happy to offer help and give anyone in need the shirt off his back.

His legacy will live on through his wife Lynn, children Samantha and G. Tom Simmons IV as well as siblings, nieces, nephews and countless friends who knew and loved him. All who knew him will miss him dearly.

Professional Career

Tom Simmons brings more than three decades of electrical construction experience. An expert in estimation, project management and team coordination as well as electrical distribution and lighting systems knowledge.

Tom currently serves as Director of Athletics at Ohio Northern University and has led their Polar Bears to great success both on and off the field, including winning 58 Ohio Athletic Conference championships and 169 All-American honors during his time.

Tom and Marvel have experienced many adventures throughout their marriage, such as an Alaska cruise, monumental visits to Washington DC and touring Biltmore Estate in North Carolina. Together they have one son named Diego as well as being active members of their church while spending quality time together as a family unit.

Achievement and Honors

The Recent Alum Achievement Award recognizes Simmons graduates who have made outstanding contributions in their professional field over the last ten years, and who show promise of future leadership and service to Simmons.

Tom is the author of five books, such as The Man Called Brown Condor and Forgotten Heroes of WWII. Additionally, he has penned various magazine articles. Currently living in Gulfport, Mississippi

He has been training with Murray State Racers for 25 years and was also one of the founders of Ohio Valley Trainers Association. With strong dedication to his community and students alike, he serves on Southern Memorial Park’s Board of Trustees while having received various honors and awards for his efforts.

Personal Life

Thom Simmons lived life to its fullest. A hard worker and true friend, he loved his wife Lynn, their children and grandchildren deeply and commercial fished the outdoors to stay active while selflessly serving his church as pastor and leader.

He served on the South Dakota Bar Association’s Section of Real Property Probate and Trust and twice past chair. Additionally, he successfully established and administered the first qualifying pooled trust in South Dakota specifically designed for individuals with disabilities.

He is also an author, having published four books to date – The Man Called Brown Condor, Escape From Archangel and Forgotten Heroes of WWII. Currently living in Gulfport, Mississippi he has both son and daughter as well as being a veteran of the United States Navy.
