Carter Oosterhouse moved to Los Angeles immediately following graduation to pursue a career in film and television. After interning for Project Greenlight, Carter auditioned for Trading Spaces on TLC before becoming part of its cast for its fourth season.

He hosts two HGTV network shows – Carter Can and Million Dollar Rooms. Additionally, he is married to actress Amy Smart and they share Flora Oosterhouse as their daughter.
